Day #8 - A New Week


Unfortunately I was not able to write anything yesterday as we went to Rutherford, NJ (just outside of NY) to see Andrea Bocelli on Saturday.  I was worried that I would really blow it, because we left early and I knew that there would be a good bit of eating out for this event.

The day we left, Vito wanted to stop and have a late lunch, which he stopped at a BBQ place.  "Oh boy", I thought, this is going to be trouble.  But actually I did pretty good considering.  I ordered a salad and a half of an order of ribs with just dry rub and no sauce.  I only ate half of those, which was only two ribs and I ate mostly the salad with lemon and no dressing.

After the Bocelli concert, we did not get out of the arena until about 11:30 P.M.  We were both famished, so we stopped at a diner.  I had a mushroom omelet with fruit on the side, with no potatoes or bread.  So I think all in all, I did very well.

This money, I weighed and I was pleasantly surprised to see that I have not lost a total of 5 pounds.  I am only a few ounces to drop below 170 pounds.  I can't wait to see that happen.  A month ago, I was almost up to 180 pounds.  So I am doing something right, but the trick is to stay on the path and not to get comfortable and lax and start going back up.  I still have a long way to go to reach my goal and then the really hard part comes, which is maintaining and not gaining back.

Today I had to go to the grocery store and stock up again.  That is truly the key, which is have the right foods available.  Vito is actually doing pretty good too, he snacks on things I can't have, but I am sure he is doing to loose some as well, because he seems to be eating the meals that I prepare.  Now I know he gets a lot of calories in with his snacks, but I told him if he wants anything other than I am making, he needs to kick in and help or tell me what it is he wants as I am not going to sabotage myself and I appreciate him not sabotaging me.  Thus far I think we are both benefiting and if this can also help him loose, that is great.

Tomorrow I go back to work, ready or not.  I have enjoyed having off and dread going back, but I already have my lunch prepared and I am also going to take some fruit with me too.

I hope to get back on track with everything tomorrow and I also have some things that I want to share on the blog concerning info on fast food places.  Also I want to explore some recipes to post as well for holiday sweet snack attacks.  I know they are coming so might as well be prepared for that too.
